More About Claudia:
Claudia started college as a Jazz Guitar major at the University of Pittsburgh, studying with Joe Negri (aka “Handyman Negri” of Mr. Rogers fame). After her sophomore year she and her cousin bought an old van and went cross country with nothing but a few guitars, a mandolin and a CB radio. (Remember them?) That trip led to a decision to focus on a more practical future, and Claudia ultimately graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS Degree in Business Administration. She then moved to Brevard County, where she began her career working as a Personnel Officer with the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners. There, she got to know all functions of county government and hired the county’s first female firefighter and female animal control officer.
Networking opportunities led to a position with Lockheed Martin, where she started as a Human Resources Rep for the Fleet Ballistic Missile Program and Space Shuttle Program, then transitioned to an HR Systems role with Enterprise Information Systems, Shared Services and finally Corporate Operations, finishing her career working on Executive Compensation Systems.
When Claudia moved to a systems role, she became a key figure on five federal contract proposal teams and followed that with successive implementations of the PeopleSoft HRMS Application for use by over 130,000 Lockheed Martin employees. Her ability to build relationships across the pond led to a particular success in the United Kingdom - a trait she expects to use here in Sanford.
Claudia was given the company’s highest honor, the Pinnacle Award, on three separate occasions - something she takes great pride in. She retired from Lockheed Martin in 2014 as their “PeopleSoft Guru”, but in 2018 was asked to return in a consulting role, and after that 18-month stint returned to retired life.
Claudia’s volunteer activities are many, including five builds for Habitat for Humanity - one of her most rewarding experiences. She also returned to her original passion, music - playing guitar and bass at local theatres. (Claudia recently performed at Theater West End and looks forward to more gigs.) She has also served on numerous boards since retiring and expects to continue serving the community.
Claudia is now an active member of the Sanford community, participates in frequent golf and other local events, and stays involved in local politics to understand the needs of Sanford.
Claudia is ready to move to the next step – helping Sanford become an even better city that serves ALL of its constituents.
